"The pictures of Damien's voyage through the ice exist thanks to Bernard Moitessier. He managed to convince us in Tahiti, that our sailing trip to Antarctica was worth filming. "If you film on instint and with humility, you will bring back a film full of sincerity and which will know now time boundary" Bernard insisted as well that the camera was his own eye, an eye that was complementary to ours and full of surprises. It was true. That was in 1973. Thirty years later, on the anniversary of when we came back with Damien, the images are still intact and the same magical fascination takes over the stationery traveller in search of simple, genuine wonderment.
